It was only recently that I finished the work for a new client, a distillery wanting to create some beautiful images of their new product – Stableviews Gin.
They needed an image with the gin bottle, glass and the botanicals used in making of the gin, as well as front and back images of the bottle on its own.
Their creative brief for me was quite open: I was to create a selection of images to be used for social media as well as their other online and print advertising.
Photographing glass bottles is an artform of its own. Not only does the glass reflect and create shadows in places you don’t want it to, but the label often needs to be lit completely differently to the bottle itself, to get the correct exposure and detail to show.
Just like jewellery photography, bottled beverages photography requires professional expertise and the reason clients employ commercial product photographers like myself to do the job.
