Recently I have had quite a bit of interest from West Australian Artists coming over to my studio so I can photograph them and their work. The paintings I have been seeing are stunning and I wanted to feature some on my blog. The landscape here is by Boyd Parry and the nudes in glass bottles painting is by Madeline Clare.
Shooting flat art like these oil paintings is tricky for a few reasons. First is lighting the artwork evenly. Second is capturing the true colours of the artwork in the final digital image. Third is making sure your camera and the lens you are shooting with do not distort the image in any way.
Artwork photography or painting photography is not something many commercial photographers advertise they do. Perhaps it actually is not, but with my background in shooting hand made jewellery pieces for so many years, it is something I really do enjoy.
