Photographing Diamond rings is not easy. They are very small products so to get them to stand in a position you want is tricky. Gold is a reflective metal so it takes time to set up the studio in such a way to hide all the things you don't wish to see reflected in the rings. To make them look big in an image, you have to get very close to the rings. Doing this however also enlarges all the other things like minute scratches and dust particles which not even our naked eye can see. This is why digital retouching is so important. Cleaning up the image, producting a nice crisp white background and also boosting up the colour of the rings in Photoshop takes time and expertise. This is why more and more jewellers have given up the battle and are now searching for Photographers like myself to capture their amazing products.

I was there once again this year to photograph the launch of one of Cancer Council's leading fundraising events, Australia's Biggest Morning Tea 2012. The launch is a fun morning where the most successful hosts are invited to watch two chefs battle it out on stage and try their yummy creations. This May people all over Australia are hosting their own morning teas in order to support cancer research.

Robin Wells is an Artist. Her latest collection of floral inspired handcrafted objects is just exquisite. She wanted me to capture the form, depth and intricate detail of these objects in an image that is moody and invites viewers to take a second look.

It is a great feeling when with each new range of product a client keeps returning to you for more photography. It is even better when they say "We trust you will create something great" and they leave a bag of product in your lap. This is such a client and I absolutelly love shooting for them. Their product is always bold and colourful, which makes it pop out in every shot.

Precious Pieces are soon launching their new website and they recently booked me in to do their product photography. The brief was to capture the colour and brilliance of the pieces without introducing fancy or distracting backgrounds to the images. These images are to be used as the category headliners on their website so they had to attract attention in order to lure the visitor to the website to click on each particular category.

R J Pearce Jewellers recently booked me to create an image for their Scoop Magazine full page advertisement. It was a fun but also a tricky shoot because the placement of the hands and the jewellery had to be just right. After 3hrs of working we finally had the shot! I had to work on it digitally to sharpen the pieces and soften the skin a little bit but in overall, what we shot on the night is what you see right here!
